Men’s Lacrosse Ends Conference Play With Road Loss At Montclair State

Montclair, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team rounded out the conference schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 26-5 road loss at Montclair State. Senior Connor McBride (Monroe, N.Y.) and junior Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) each finished with a pair of goals.

Mount Saint Vincent was outscored in the opening period on Saturday 11-1 and went into halftime facing an 18-3 deficit to the 2015 regular season champion Red Hawks. Ngaba scored the Mount's first goal of the game at the 7:05 mark of the first period and the Dolphins were held off the board again until Ngaba tallied for the second time in the game with just over seven minutes left before halftime.
 
Montclair State outshot Mount Saint Vincent 40-7 in the first half on Saturday. The Dolphins were held to a single groundball in the first quarter, trailing in the category 28-5 at the break and the Red Hawks also held the edge in face-offs after 30 minutes 18-4.
 
The Dolphins did not score in the third period and went without a goal in the second half until a McBride marker with 8:46 left in the game. McBride added his second of the contest with just over two minutes left in the tilt.
 
Ngaba finished with two groundballs and two face-off wins for the Dolphins with McBride collecting a groundball. Freshman Rob Lalli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) scored the Mount's other goal in the contest and Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) matched the team-high with three groundballs.
 
Montclair State featured eight different players with at least two goals and three players with three tallies. Brett Mangan and Michael Jevic each posted three goals and an assist, while Connor Cunningham assisted on three goals. Brian Donovan won 12 face-offs for the Red Hawks and joined Blaise Mantineo with eight groundballs.
 
Junior Ben Gashi (Broonx, N.Y.) took the loss in goal with 10 saves and three groundballs in 34:17. Freshman Frank Bakakos (Staten Island, N.Y.) played 25:43 between the pipes for the Mount, making four stops. Lucas Jones picked up the win without making a save in just over a quarter of work, while Bobby Graziano stopped six shots in just under 44 minutes of action.
 
For the game, Montclair State held the advantage in shots 55-20, shots on goal 40-11, groundballs 52-21 and face-offs 28-6. Mount Saint Vincent scored the only man-up goal of the game, going 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-13 overall on the season and to 0-6 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will close out the 2015 season on Wednesday when they welcomes Johnson and Wales to Riverdale. Face-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
