Offense Shines In Game One Of Doubleheader Split At Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Farmingdale State on Saturday, downing the Rams 19-8 in game one and falling 2-0 in the backend of the set. Six Mount Saint Vincent players finished game one with multiple hits, including Matthew Nesensohn (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Cristian Lynch (Mastic, N.Y.) who each recorded three hits.
 
After falling behind 3-1 after the first inning in the opener, the Dolphins broke the game open with eight runs in the second and 10 more in fifth. Nesensohn, Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.) produced run scoring base hits in the second and Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Steven Giustino (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) drew run scoring walks.
 
In the big fifth inning, the Dolphins got five run scoring base hits with Giustino driving in two runs in the inning with a single and a walk. Lynch picked up two RBI singles in the fifth inning as the Dolphins finished the inning with eight base hits.
 
Lynch closed game one 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI and Nesensohn went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.) and Schroeher recorded two hits with Schroeher doubling and scoring four runs.
 
Mount Saint Vincent pounded out 16 hits in game one, with Giustino and Senisi collecting two hits. Giustino drove in four runs for the Dolphins and both players scored a pair of runs in the game.
 
Junior Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned the win on the mound in game one after working 6.1 innings and allowing three earned runs on 13 hits. He fanned four and walked three as he moved to 3-1 on the season.
 
In game two, Mount Saint Vincent was stifled by Farmingdale State starter Kevin Cashman. He allowed the Mount just four hits in 6.0 innings, fanning four. Alex Pangourelias earned his third save with a scoreless inning of work.
 
Keith Brodesser (Copiague, N.Y.) and Lynch doubled for the Mount in the game with Schroeher and Casey Surdi (West Islip, N.Y.) also recording base hits.
 
The Rams got all the scoring they needed in the first inning when Michael Marino doubled home Anthony Alvino. Anthony McQuade drove in an insurance run in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly for the Rams. Dalton McCarthy and Richard Sullivan each finished the game with two hits in game two.
 
Freshman left hander Nicholas Recarte (Hackensack, N.J.) took the loss for the Mount in game two, working a complete game for the Dolphins. He allowed two runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking four in the game.
 
Saturday's split moves Mount Saint Vincent to 8-21 overall and to 5-5 in conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action on Sunday when they host St. Joseph's-L.I. on Senior Day. First pitch at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison, N.Y. is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
