Box Score
Kings Point, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team was edged on the road at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Wednesday by a score of 9-8 in eight innings. Freshman Matthew Nesensohn (Staten Island, N.Y.) continued his strong early season play with three hits for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to a 2-1 lead after an inning of play after Nesensohn doubled home Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.) in the first to open the scoring. Nesensohn later crossed with the Mount's second run on a run scoring groundout off the bat of Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.).

The one run lead would stand for the Dolphins until the Mariners scored three times in the home half of the fourth inning. After plating three unearned runs in the fourth, USMMA plated two runs in the fifth, keyed by a Steve Lucy run scoring single, to pull in front 6-2.

Down by four runs, Mount Saint Vincent plated six runs in the sixth inning to move back in front 8-6. Casey Surdi (West Islip, N.Y.) drove in a run with a walk to start the scoring and Nesensohn drove home Surdi and Christian Baptiste (Bronx, N.Y.) with a run scoring single.

The Dolphins' lead would shrink by a run in the bottom of the sixth, before USMMA took the lead for good in the game with two runs in the seventh to close out the scoring. The tying run crossed on a wild pitch before Lucy tallied the eventual game winning run after scoring on a sacrifice fly.

Nesensohn finished the game 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI, recording three of the team's five hits in the game. Pace scored two runs for the Dolphins, with Weber, Surdi and Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) each driving in a run for the Dolphins.

Lucy and Jake Wood each recorded a pair of hits for USMMA in the game and Grant Foley scored three runs for the Mariners.

Frank Angeles (New York, N.Y.) suffered the loss in relief for the Dolphins, allowing two runs on a hit and three walks in 1.0 inning of work. Evan Brown (St. Albans, N.Y.) made the start for the Dolphins and worked 5.1 innings, surrendering four earned runs on seven hits.

Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 4-11 overall. The Dolphins will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Staten Island for a non-conference twinbill. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
