Mount Saint Vincent Dealt Double Overtime Loss At Manhattanville

Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team suffered its second double overtime loss of the season and its fourth one goal loss of the season on Monday night following a hard fought 12-11 defeat at Manhattanville. Junior Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) led the offense on Monday with four goals.
 
Manhattanville got off to a fast start, scoring the first three goals of the game inside the first three minutes of action. Ngaba scored two of the next three goals in the period to bring the Mount to within 4-2, but the Valiants tallied twice in the final 3:37 of the opening stanza to take a 6-2 lead after 15 minutes.
 
The Valiants picked up three more goals in the second quarter to pull in front 9-4 at halftime, before the Mount outscored Manhattanville 7-2 after the break to tie the score at 11-11. Ngaba, Michael Puchalski (Yorktown, N.Y.) and Rob Lalli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) scored in the third stanza for the Mount to get the Dolphins to within three goals heading into the fourth quarter.
 
The Dolphins climbed to within a goal on a Ngaba tally at the 7:33 mark of the fourth quarter and finally pulled even with the Valiants with 37 seconds left in regulation when Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) scored his eight goal of the season off a feed from Josh James (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to knot the score at 11-11.
 
The game stayed tied through the first four minute overtime period before Manhattanville got the game winning goal at the 3:29 mark of the second extra stanza on a goal from Christian Flores, his sixth marker of the season.
 
Mount Saint Vincent had four players score multiple goals in the game, led by Ngaba's four. He added two groundballs and a face-off win for the Dolphins. Lalli tallied twice and assisted on two other goals, and now shares the team lead in goals with Ngaba and holds the team lead in points with 18. McEnaney scored twice and posted three points and Puchalski potted a pair of goals for the Dolphins.

Senior Joe Esposito (Bethpage, N.Y.), James Fitzgerald (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and James led the team with four groundballs each with Esposito and Fitzgerald each causing a pair of turnovers. Adam Aliotta (Staten Island, N.Y.) paced the Mount with three face-off wins.
 
Andrew Murray scored four times for Manhattanville and Connor Normandin totaled five points on two goals and three assists. Cory Balog went 21-for-27 in face-offs for the Valiants and scooped a game-high 10 groundballs.
 
Junior Ben Gashi (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the game with 11 saves in goal for the Dolphins, posting at least 10 saves for the fourth straight game. He added two groundballs and a caused turnovers for the Mount. Zach Hoffman earned the win for Manhattanville with nine stops.
 
Mount Saint Vincent outshot Manhattanville in the game 41-36, including 24-13 after halftime. Manhattanville won 21 of the 27 face-offs taken on the night and held a slim 39-37 advantage in groundballs.
 
With Monday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 0-6 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to Skyline Conference play on Wednesday when they play host to Maritime.
