Brett Holiday (Stratford, N.J.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team closed out the conference schedule on Saturday evening with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 victory over Sage.
Mount Saint Vincent got off a quick start, hitting .393 with 14 kills in the opening set to take the early one set advantage. After hitting .079 in middle stanza, the Mount responded to hit an efficient .481 in the deciding frame. In a set that featured 13 ties and seven lead changes, the Dolphins closed the third frame with the final seven points, including three kills from Holiday.
Holiday finished the match with just one attack error in 27 attacks, posting double-figures in kills for the fifth time this season. He added three digs and three blocks to Saturday's winning effort. Sophomore
Tyler Cucullu (Henderson, Nev.) closed the night with 10 kills and six digs for the Dolphins.
Freshman
Michael Barfield (Farmingville, N.Y.) handed out 19 assists in the match and classmate
Logan Dickover (Las Vegas, Nev.) posted 10 assists, five kills and six digs.
Sage was led by six kills from three different players and 22 assists from Tyler Bastos. Robert Fitzpatrick posted a match-high eight digs and Ryan Guyton recorded a pair of service aces.
For the match, Mount Saint Vincent finished with a 41-27 advantage in kills and a slim 5-4 edge in service aces, led by three from Dickover. Mount Saint Vincent also held the advantage in total team blocks on Saturday 6-0.
With Saturday's win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 15-9 overall and to 9-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will close out the regular season on Tuesday when they welcome CCNY to the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
