Immaculata, Pa. – Senior
Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) scored three goals and was one of eight different goals scorers for the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team, but the Dolphins dropped a doubleheader overtime decision at Immaculata by a score of 13-12.
After falling behind 1-0 in the early going, Mount Saint Vincent ripped off five straight goals over the next five minutes to pull in front 5-1. McEnaney scored twice and assisted on a
Rob Lalli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) goal before the Mighty Macs tallied two man-up goals in the final five minutes of the first quarter to pull to within 5-3 after 15 minutes of action.
Immaculata scored three of the four goals in the second quarter on Sunday to send the two teams into the intermission deadlocked at 6-6. McEnaney scored his third of the game with the man advantage with 7:22 left before halftime to push the Mount in front 6-5.
At the half, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Immaculata 20-16 and won 11 of the 14 face-offs taken. The Mighty Macs held a slim 17-16 advantage in groundballs in the intermission.
The Dolphins took a 9-8 lead through three periods after getting goals from
Josh James (Brooklyn, N.Y.),
Connor McBride (Monroe, N.Y.) and
Matt Dellacroce (Staten Island, N.Y.). McEnaney picked up an assist on James' man-up goal with just under seven minutes left in the quarter.
Mount Saint Vincent was forced to make a late fourth quarter comeback after Immaculata scored four of the first five goals of the fourth quarter to take a 12-10 lead with 4:10 left in regulation. Junior
Mike McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) brought the Dolphins to within a goal with 2:06 left and
Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) knotted the score at 12-12 with 52 ticks left in the fourth quarter.
After the two teams played a scoreless four minute overtime period, Immaculata got the game winning tally at the 2:55 mark of the second overtime period when Brendan Doyle finished off the game winner off a pass from Mike Reardon.
Reardon finished the game with five assists and eight points for the Mighty Macs with Doyle scoring a pair of goals in the game. Ben Lerairo finished a strong game for Immaculata with three goals and a team-high seven groundballs.
Pat McEnaney led the Dolphins with four points and added four groundballs, while
Mike McEnaney finished with two goals and three points, adding three groundballs. McBride also scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, while
Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) picked up seven groundballs and won five face-offs. Ngaba won 12 face-offs and chipped in with five groundballs.
Junior
Ben Gashi (Bronx, N.Y.) suffered the loss in goal for Mount Saint Vincent, making 10 saves. Christian Custodio earned the win for Immaculata with 11 saves and three groundballs.
Immaculata outshot Mount Saint Vincent 38-36 in the game, including 22-16 after halftime. The Mighty Macs finished with a 36-31 advantage in groundballs, while the Mount won 17 of the 30 face-offs take in the contest. Mount Saint Vincent went 2-for-2 with the extra man and finished up 10-for-15 in clearing chances.
With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 0-4 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday when they open Skyline Conference play against Farmingdale State.
