Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team saw its skid to open the season reach six games on Tuesday following a 2-1 loss to Keystone and a 5-1 loss to Rutgers-Camden in Myrtle Beach. Freshman Rachel Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) recorded a pair of hits and drove in a run in Tuesday's second game.
 
In the opener against Keystone, Mount Saint Vincent took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Casey Cuccio (Medford, N.Y.) single to right field. Rachel Heizer led off the inning with a double and after advancing on a passed ball was driven in by Cuccio with two outs in the inning.
 
The early run would be all the Mount could muster off of Keystone who eventually broke through with a run in the sixth inning to tie the score at 1-1. Kim Rivera was hit by a pitch to start the rally and later scored the tying run on an two-out single from Emily Long.
 
After Mount Saint Vincent was retired in order in the top of the seventh, the Giants got a lead-off double from Sarah Schraden who came across with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out double from Sara Stacey.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outhit in the game 6-4, with half of the Dolphins' hits going for extra bases. Rachel Heizer and Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) each doubled for the Mount, with Joann Guerra and Cuccio each recording singles.
 
Keystone was led by two hits and a run scored from Schraden and got a hit and a run scored from Rivera.
 
Kathryn Dalton (North Hampton, Pa.) suffered the loss after working 6.1 strong innings for the Mount against Keystone. She allowed one earned run on six hits, striking out two and allowing just one walk. Schraden picked up the win in relief for Keystone, working 2.2 scoreless innings and striking out two.

Against Rutgers-Camden, Mount Saint Vincent took its second early lead of the day with a run in the top half of the first inning. Following singles from Guerra and Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.), Rachel Heizer doubled home Guerra for an early 1-0 lead.
 
Rutgers-Camden would answer with a pair of runs in its first at-bat, totaling three hits in the bottom of the first. With two outs and runner on second, Lindsay Day drove in a run with a single and then later scored on a Krystine Rice base hit.
 
The Scarlet Raptors added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run home run off the bat of Katie Larson and closed out the scoring in the in the fourth when Larson singled home Taylor Nichols.
 
The Dolphins finished the game with eight hits and received two hits each from Davis, Rachel Heizer and Alondra Soroa (Bronx, N.Y.). Davis scored the Mount's lone run and Heizer drove in her first run of the season.
 
Rutgers-Camden was led by three RBI from Larson who closed the game 3-for-3 with a run scored. Five different Scarlet Raptors scored a run in the game with Jalene Garcia drawing a pair of walks.
 
Sophomore Mackenzie Heizer suffered the loss in the game after going 4.0 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits. Brittany Scott picked up the win for Rutgers-Camden with a complete game, striking out five.
 
At 0-6 overall, Mount Saint Vincent will close out play in South Carolina on Wednesday morning when it plays a non-conference doubleheader with Eureka.
