Kings Point, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team suffered its second straight loss on Saturday afternoon with a 9-6 defeat at the hands of visiting Bard. Junior Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Mount's offensive attack with two goals and added nine face-off wins.
 
Bard jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with a pair of goals inside the first six minutes of play on Saturday. The Raptors got goals from Sam Funnell and John Palermo to account for the only two tallies of the opening 15 minutes.
 
Mount Saint Vincent got on the board at the 12:42 mark of the second period when Ngaba scored his first of the season to pull the Mount to within a goal. Bard went on to score four of the next five goals of the period, including two goals each from Palermo and Mat Livermore, to take a 6-3 lead into halftime.
 
The visitors wrapped up the first half with a 17-11 advantage in shots and a 23-19 edge in groundballs. Palermo scored three goals before halftime for Bard with Ngaba scoring both of his goals five minutes apart in the second quarter.
 
The two teams split a pair of goals in the third stanza, with Matt Dellacroce (Staten Island, N.Y.) netting his first of the season and bringing the Dolphins to within 6-4 at the 11:44 mark of the quarter. Bard answered with its seventh goal of the game, an Emmett O'Connell marker, with 2:31 left in the third period.
 
The two teams alternated goals in the final quarter. Connor McBride (Monroe, N.Y.) scored his team leading seventh goal of the season with just under seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, but a man-down goal from Bard's George Goceljak with 4:24 left in regulation pushed the visitors in front 9-5.
 
Ngaba was one of five different goal scorers in the game for the Mount, netting his first two goals of the season. He totaled a team-high seven groundballs and finished the game 9-for-16 in face-offs. Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) picked up six groundballs and joined Joe Esposito (Bethpage, N.Y.) with two caused turnovers.
 
Bard was paced by three goals from Palermo and a pair of goals from Livermore. O'Connell and Blake Burnley each finished the game with a goal and an assist for Bard. Ben Baum rounded out the day with seven face-offs wins for the Bard and Harrison Mauldin matched the game-high with seven groundballs.
 
Junior Ben Gashi (Bronx, N.Y.) made his first start of the season in goal for the Dolphins and finished the day with eight saves and a pair of groundballs. John Henry Glascock finished with 12 saves for Bard and scooped four groundballs.
 
For the game, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Bard 35-32, including an 18-17 edge in shots on goals. Groundballs went to Bard 39-33, with Bard scoring with the man advantage and a man down late in regulation. Bard went 1-for-3 with the man advantage, while the Dolphins went scoreless is six chances.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-2 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is the third game of a three game home stand. The Mount will host Mitchell on March 18.
