PURCHASE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball team took on Purchase College on Tuesday night, dropping their conference foe 67-63, improving to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in Skyline play.
Ammad Alkhulaidi led all scorers, tying a career high with 22 points, on 8-of-15 shooting from the field.
Jamir Ferebee scored 16 points, while
Trevor Johnson added 12 points to lead the offense for the Dolphins.
The two teams battled throughout the first half with the Dolphins shooting an even 50% from the field but made five three pointers in the first 20 minutes, compared to two for the Panthers.
Midway through the first half, the Dolphins and Panthers were tied at 19 but CMSV went on a 13-4, highlighted by a three pointer from Ferebee to make it 32-23 with 5:36 left in the first half.
The Panthers would battle back to take a two point lead 1:34 left but layups by
Madison Martinez and Alkhulaidi would give the Dolphins a 36-34 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Panthers would come down and tie the game with a basket on their first possession. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Ferebee and Martinez, gave the Dolphins a 47-41 lead with 16:19 lead.
CMSV fell behind 56-53 with 4:50 to go but back-to-back buckets by Ferebee and Alkhulaidi erased the three point deficit, giving the Dolphins the lead. The Panthers would come down and take the lead back on their next possession but a three-pointer and layup from
Ryan Fraser gave CMSV a four point lead, which they would hold on to down the stretch.
The team returns to action Saturday December 5, when they will host Mount Saint Mary's College at 3pm in the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Check the team schedule for links to live stats and live video.
