Dolphins Hold On For 80-70 Victory Over MSMC

CMSV Remains Unbeaten In Skyline Play

RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball held on for an 80-70 victory over Skyline Conference foe Mount Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon. The victory propels the Dolphins to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Three players scored in double figures for CMSV, led by sophomore Ammad Alkhulaidi's fourth double-double of the season. The Brooklyn, NY native tied a career high with 22 points, while grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. Madison Martinez chipped in with a career high 20 points, on 6-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three point land. Mike Mulligan provided a spark putting in a career high of his own with 19 points.

CMSV jumped out early on the Knights in the first half taking a 12-4 lead after Mulligan went 1-of-2 from the free throw line just over six minutes into the game.

The Knights would fight back going on a 9-1 run over the next four minutes, capped off by a Daniel Wolff 3-pointer.

For the remainder of the half, CMSV got more aggressive on the offensive end, going on a 19-4 run, highlighted by three, three-pointers by Martinez to give the Dolphins a 33-17 lead with a little over five minutes to go in the half.

The Dolphins went into halftime leading the Knights 37-22.

In the second half, an Alkhulaidi layup four minutes into the half would push the lead to 23 points and it continued to grow to 26 after a 3-pointer by Jamir Ferebee

With 11:04 left in the game, Alkhulaidi would nail a three to give the Dolphins their largest lead of the game at 61-34.

Over the next nine minutes, the Knights would go on a 28-7 run to cut the lead to six points, after a three from Tyler McDine made the score 68-62.

On the Dolphins next possession, Matthew Sowah would convert an old fashioned 3-point play to give CMSV a nine point lead. The Dolphins would convert their free throws in the final 1:30 to seal the 80-70 victory.

The team returns to action Tuesday December 8 when they will take on the Sage Gators at 8pm.
