Dolphins Fall To Oglethorpe At Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tournament

CMSV Can't Find Offense Rythm

ATLANTA, GA - The CMSV men's basketball team took on hosts Oglethorpe University on Sunday afternoon in the opening round game of the 2015 Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tournament. The Dolphins struggled to find their offense touch as they fell to the Petrels 91-61 putting CMSV at .500 on the year with a 5-5 record.

As a team, the Dolphins shot 31% from the field and went 2-of-21 from three point land. Matthew Sowah was the lone player to score in double figures as the sophomore scored 10 points in only 12 minutes of play. Jamir Ferebee struggled to find his shot going 2-of-12 en route to nine points and grabbed six rebounds. Ferebee was effective at the free throw line, going 5-of-6.

CMSV jumped out to an early lead on the Petrels as Ferebee took the ball from the opening tip to the basket drawing a foul and sinking two free throws. On the Dolphins next possession Ryan Fraser made a jumper to give his team a 4-0 lead, less than a minute into the action.

The Petrels would tie the game up at 4 a few possessions later but Ammad Alkhulaidi would go 1-of-2 from the line to give the Dolphins a 5-4 lead with 18:13 to go in the first half, it would be the last lead CMSV would hold.

The Dolphins would stay close getting to within one at 20-19 after a Ferebee layup at 11:38. Ferebee would make a pair of free throws with 4:48 til halftime to cut the lead to 34-30 but back-to-back three pointers by the Petrels gave them a 10 point lead.

Going into the half, the Dolphins trailed by only 13 points.

The second half is where CMSV really lost the offensive touch. After shooting 40% from the field in the first 20 minutes of play, they only shot 24% from the field over the final 20 mintues of action.

The Petrels would grow their lead to as much as 36 points with 4:40 left in the game.

CMSV will take on Huntingdon College in the consolation game tomorrow at 4pm. Check the team's schedule for links to live video and live stats.
