RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team took on Skyline Conference foe St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Monday night and defeated the Lady Bears 89-56 to improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in Skyline play.
Kristen Merrell led all scorers with 18 points, she also chipped in with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals, as the Dolphins had their best offensive output on the season.
CMSV were on fire from 3-point land, as they shot 13-for-24 (54%) and assisted on 24 of 34 made field goals.
Alexandra Gundermann led the way for the Dolphins from beyond the arc as she hit 3-of-4 en route to 11 points.
Brittany Carroll was 2-of-4 from distance and
Theresa Carey was 2-for-3 as they scored 10 and 11 points respectively.
The Dolphins took control of the game early in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 10-0 less than three minutes into the game. They would close out the quarter on a 12-4 run to take a commanding 22-9 at the end of the period.
CMSV forced 17 Lady Bears turnovers which turned into 23 points. The Dolphins also got 43 points from their bench.
The team returns to action Wednesday December 2, when they will travel to Purchase, to take on Purchase College at 6pm.
