Dolphins Win OT Thriller 88-86 Over New Paltz

Jose Maestre Sinks 2 Key Free Throws In OT To Seal Victory

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The CMSV Men's Basketball team took on SUNY New Paltz in the opening game of the Williams College Invitational on Friday night. The Dolphins came away with an 88-86 overtime victory to even their record at 1-1 and earn a spot in Saturday's championship game against Williams College.

Sophomore Jose Maestre sank two key free throws in the closing seconds of overtime, pushing the Dolphins lead to four points.

Five players scored in double figures, led by sophomore Matthew Sowah, who scored a game-high 20 points, on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from three point land. Ammad Alkhulaidi scored 17 points while grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive glass, and dishing out five assists.

Jamir Ferebee scored 15 points, Madison Martinez scored 14 points before fouling out late in overtime and Mike Mulligan score 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and handed out five assists.

Late in the second half, the Dolphins saw their six point lead evaporate and found themselves trailing 74-73 with under a minute to go. Alkhulaidi got fouled with less than one second left and made 1-of-2 from the line to tie the score and put the game into OT.

In overtime the Dolphins would go up by as much as six points after Martinez nailed a three with just under four minutes to go. They would make their free throws down the stretch and hold on for the victory.

The Dolphins will take on Williams College tomorrow at 4pm in the Championship Game. Check social media for links to watch the game live.
