RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team took on the College of New Rochelle on Wednesday night, in front of a packed Sharp Center crowd, that was on hand to help raise the 2014-15 Skyline Championship banner. The Dolphins took home a 68-40 victory, to notch their first win of the 15-16 season.
Christina Barone led the way for the Dolphins, scoring a team-high 12 points, while dishing out seven assists.
Brittany Carroll chipped in with 11 points.
The game was close throughout much of the first half, with the Dolphins leading the entire way. After two made free-throws by Caitlin Harrison cut the lead to 26-24, the Dolphins responded by closing out the half on an 8-0 to take a 34-24 lead into halftime.
The Dolphins came out intense on both ends of the floor, going on an 11-0 run over the first 3:46 of the third quarter. The Dolphins held CNR to to 16 points in the final 20 minutes of action.
Prior to the start of the game, the entire 2014-15 Skyline Championship team was honored and presented with championship rings, commemorating the programs first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Barone was also presented with a plaque to recognize her, as she led all of NCAA Division III in assists per game last season.
The Dolphins return to action this weekend as they will head to Vassar College and participate in the Vassar Tip-Off Tournament. They will take on Vassar on Friday November 20 at 6pm and then will play again on Saturday November 21 in either the consolation game at 1pm or the championship game at 3pm.
