POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The CMSV Women's basketball team lost 62-56 in the opening game of the Vassar College Tip-Off Tournament, to hosts Vassar College, dropping the Dolphins record to 1-3 on the year.
Thresea Carey led the Dolphins with a team-high 16 points, while Kelly Noa scored 11 points off the bench. The Dolphins struggled to find the touch from the field all night as they shot 32% from the field and only 16% from three point land.
Despite the poor shooting the Dolphins battled all night grinding out possessions on both ends of the floor. They found themselves down by six a little over two minutes into the 3rd period but were able to chip away at the lead thanks to a layup by Nola and 3-pointer from Kristin Merrell.
Merrell would give the Dolphins their only lead of the 2nd half with just over one minute to go in the 3rd period on a layup.
The Dolphins would be outscored in the 4th quarter as they were unable to stop the Brewers.
They return to action Saturday afternoon at 1pm when they will take on Medialle College in the consolation game.
