Christina Barone Named To All-Tournament Team

ASHLAND, VA - The CMSV Women's basketball team took on Randolph-Macon College in the 2nd game of the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins lost 72-67 to the Yellow Jackets, to fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Dolphins and Yellow Jackets both shot 40% from the field in the 1st half but their 3-point and free throw shooting advantages were what gave them a 39-35 advantage going into halftime.

In the 3rd quarter the Dolphins came out and immediatley added to their lead on a Nicole Oliver layup off a feed from Barone, to make the score 41-35. The Yellow Jackets responded going on a 14-0 run, to take a 49-41 lead with just under three minutes left in the quarter.

In the final quarter, the Dolphins would find themselves down 10 points just over two minutes into play but the play of Barone, Oliver and Kelly Nola would keep the team close going down the stretch. Nola would put in a layup and a free throw to cut the Yellow Jackets lead to four with 2:23 remaining but on the next two offensive possessions Hannah Livermon would drain three pointers, sealing the victory.

Nola wouuld finish with 11 points, while Oliver finished with eight. For her efforts during the Tournament, where she averaged 19.5pts, 5rbs and 4.5ast, Barone was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Dolphins return to action Wednesday November 18th at 7pm, when they will take on the College of New Rochelle. Make sure you arrive to the Sharp Center early, as prior to tip-off the members of last seasons team will recieve their rings, in honor of making it to last season's NCAA Tournament.
