Mount Saint Vincent Knocked Out Of Skyline Tournament By Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team was upended in the opening round of the Skyline Conference Tournament at third seeded Farmingdale State on Thursday night by a score of 14-0. Senior Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) picked up half of the Mount's hits in the game, going 2-for-4.
 
Farmingdale State got the eventual game winning run in the home half of the first inning on back-to-back base hits from Edward Bergmann and Anthony Alvino. After Bergmann singled to lead off the inning and stole second, Alvino delivered him with a double to left center for the early 1-0 lead.
 
The Rams broke the game open with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth. Richard Sullivan and Daniel Paccione each picked up run scoring base hits in the inning and Michael Marino crossed on a double steal in the frame.
 
After adding a run in the sixth inning, Farmingdale State put the game away with eight tallies on five hits in the seventh inning. Sullivan and Bergmann each drove in two runs with  doubles with Alvino and P.J. Harrington also delivering runs with base hits,
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outhit in the game 15-4, with Rivera going 2-for-4 with a double, while Leutrim 'Tim' Hoxha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.) each picking up singles in the game. Tyler Rieth (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) reached with the Dolphins' only walk in the game.
 
Six Farmingdale State players finished with multiple hits in the game, with Bergmann, Marino and Sullivan recording two hits and scoring two runs. Sullivan also finished with three RBI to lead the Rams in the game.
 
Sophomore right hander Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) suffered the loss on Thursday after working 4.0 innings. He surrendered four earned runs on six hits and walked one. Krolikowski struck out one batter in the game. Alex Weingarten collected the win with 7.0 strong innings of work for the Rams. He struck out five and allowed just two hits.
 
Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 15-18 overall on the season.
