Kings Point, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team was handed a 13-5 non-conference road loss at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon. Senior goalie
Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) made 22 saves for the Dolphins and sophomore
Mike McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) posted a goal and an assist.
McEnaney got the Mount to within 3-2 in the first quarter with a man-up tally, but USMMA scored the final two goals of the first quarter in the final 3:10 of the period to take a 5-2 lead after 15 minutes of action.
The Mariners would tally three more times in the second period and hold the Dolphins to just one goal to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.
Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) got the Dolphins' lone goal in the quarter, burying a feed from
John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 10:46 left before the half.
Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 30-16 before halftime on Saturday, with USMMA showing five different players in the scoring column. Geoff Harty scored three times and added an assist with Troy Smith netting a pair of goals.
After the intermission, Mount Saint Vincent would manage just two goals. Both tallies came in the fourth quarter, with Petito scoring with just under 10 minutes left in regulation and
Pat McEnaney potting his second goal of the day with 3:55 left in the game. The Mariners outscored the Dolphins 5-2 in the second half, including 4-0 in the third quarter.
Pat McEnaney scored goals 10 and 11 on the season for the Mount and added four groundballs.
Mike McEnaney scored his second goal of the season and posted his second helper of the year on Saturday to go along with five groundballs.
Junior
Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) scooped five groundballs for Mount Saint Vincent in the game and added a caused turnover.
Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) finished up with a groundball and five face-off wins on the day.
USMMA got four goals and five points from Harty in the win with Smith potting three goals. Chris Whitenack closed out a strong game for the Mariners with eight groundballs and 11 face-off wins, while Gus Sawicki caused a game-high three turnovers.
Kalibat finished the day with a season-high 22 saves and reached 20 stops in a game for the second time in the team's last three outings. He added five groundballs for the Dolphins. Alex Peyreigne saw the bulk of action in the game for USMMA and made seven stops along with five groundballs and two caused turnovers.
USMMA held the advantage on Saturday in shots 59-23 and shots on goal 35-13. USMMA also posted the advantage in the game in groundballs 39-28 and face-off wins 13-6. The Mariners were also efficient in clearing attempts, going 20-for-21 on the day.
Following Saturday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 5-4 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a Skyline Conference matchup with Montclair State. The Dolphins and Red Hawks will square-off at Tibbetts Brook Park on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
