Bellerose, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team extended its winning streak to seven games on Wednesday after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader at York by scores of 5-1 and 10-2. Freshman
Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) struck out 16 hitters in the game one win and classmate
Kierstyn Bourdeau (Cheshire, Conn.) knocked in three runs in Wednesday's second contest.
The Dolphins got off to a fast start in the opener, scoring four of their five runs in the game. The Dolphins recorded just two hits in the inning, but took advantage of four York errors to build the four run advantage. Heizer drove in the Mount's first run with a sacrifice fly and
Casey Cuccio (Medford, N.Y.) delivered
Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) and
Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.) with a two-out single.
Mount Saint Vincent would not score again until the top half of the seventh inning, when the two teams traded runs.
Danielle Maffei (Valhalla, N.Y.) crossed with the Dolphins' final run of the game on a York miscue.
The Mount recorded just three hits in the game one win and all five of its runs in the game were unearned. Heizer, Dalton and Cuccio picked up the hits, with Heizer ripping her fifth double of the season.

In game two, the Dolphins plated four runs again in their first at-bat to open a four run lead in the early going. Heizer singled in
Joann Guerra (Bronx, N.Y.) with the inning's first run before Bourdeau drove in three with a bases loaded double with one out in the inning. The double chased home Heizer, Dalton and Lee.
After allowing a run in the home half of the third inning, the Mount plated five more runs in the fourth to open a 9-1 advantage.
Alondra Soroa (Bronx, N.Y.) drove in Bourdeau with a single to open the scoring in the frame before Dalton delivered Lee and Guerra with a two-run single close out the inning's production. Heizer also picked up an RBI in the fourth with a walk.
Mount Saint Vincent would close out the scoring in the game in the fifth and reach at least 10 runs in a game for the fifth time this season. Soroa drove in her second run of the game for the Dolphins with a run scoring single that drove in Cuccio.
The Dolphins pounded out nine hits in the game two win and had seven different players with a safety. Bourdeau finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and three RBI.
