Davis Throws Perfect Game In Doubleheader Sweep Of Yeshiva

Bronxville, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team pushed its winning streak to nine games on Thursday with 18-0 and 17-0 victories over Yeshiva. Junior Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) earned her fourth win of the season with a perfect game in the backend of Thursday's set.
 
Davis retired all 15 hitters she faced in order in game two, recording 12 strikeouts. Yeshiva put only three balls in play in game two as Davis moved to 4-1 on the season. With first shutout of the season, Davis lowered her earned run average to 3.09. The game was the third no-hitter of the season for the Dolphins.
 
Mount Saint Vincent scored in each of its four at-bats in game two, tallying four runs in the first, two in the second, six in the third and five more in the fourth. The Dolphins recorded five extra base hits in the game, including home runs from Mackenzie Heizer (Vacaville, Calif.) and Rianna Laughridge (Vacaville, Calif.).
 
The Dolphins outhit Yeshiva 13-0 in the game and had nine players with a hit. Heizer, Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.), Kierstyn Bourdeau (Cheshire, Conn.) and Laughridge all posted two hits in the game. Lee and Alondra Soroa (Bronx, N.Y.) each scored three times with Laughridge driving in five runs.
 
In the opener, Mount Saint Vincent put the game away with 11 first inning runs. The Dolphins recorded six hits in the inning and took advantage of four Yeshiva errors. Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) delivered a two-run double in the inning for the Mount.
 
The Dolphins would go on to plate four more runs in the third and three more in the fourth to close out the scoring. Davis, Dalton, Casey Cuccio (Medford, N.Y.) and Joanna Makayan (Maspeth, N.Y.) all picked up run scoring base hits in the third, while Joann Guerra (Bronx, N.Y.) drove in two with a home run in the fourth.
 
Five Mount Saint Vincent players recorded multiple hits in the opener, with Alfaro going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. Dalton went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI, while Guerra scored four times and drove in three runs.
 
Dalton moved to 3-0 on the season with a win in the circle in game one. She allowed four Yeshiva hits in the game and struck out six.
 
With two wins on Thursday, Mount Saint Vincent moves to 13-2 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to Skyline Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Mount Saint Mary. First pitch with the Knights is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
