Dolphins Sweep NYU-POLY On Senior Night

Kolodny posts nine kills in final home match

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team closed out the home regular season portion of the schedule on Wednesday night with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-16 victory over league foe NYU-POLY. Playing in his final regular season home match, senior Timothy Kolodny (Woodland Hills, Calif.) totaled nine kills for the Dolphins.
 
Mount Saint Vincent hit .241 as a team in the match and held the visitors to just a .093 hitting percentage. The Dolphins totaled 40 kills in the match to 26 for the Jays and doubled up NYU-POLY in services aces at 6-3. The Jays held the edge with 10 total team blocks in the match to 6.5 for Mount Saint Vincent.
 
Freshman Jacob Johnson (Henderson, Nev.) led all players in the contest with 14 kills to go along with an ace and six digs. Classmate Tyler Cucullu (Henderson, Nev.) also had a strong night for the Dolphins, totaling 12 winners and four aces. He lifted four digs in the tilt and posted three total blocks.
 
Kolodny added three digs and an ace to his kill total on Wednesday as he hit .280 for the match. Brett Holiday (Stratford, N.J.) recorded four kills and four total blocks.
 
Junior James DiGiovanni (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led all players in the contest with 35 assists and added two blocks and a kill. T.J. Barczik (Lake Grove, N.Y.) closed the night with eight digs and added a pair of assists for the Dolphins.
 
NYU-POLY was led by 12 kills from Fild Kroqi who also lifted seven digs. Marcus Piazzola put away nine kills, while Rishi Sarkar lifted eight digs and handed out 22 assists. John Simon paced the Jays with eight total blocks.
 
With Wednesday's win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 13-9 overall on the season and to 7-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Yeshiva to take on #13 Kean and the host Maccabees. Matches are set to get underway at 12:00 p.m.
