Men’s Lacrosse Scores Non-Conference Win Over Cobleskill

Yonkers, N.Y. – Senior John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) totaled five points and Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) and Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) each scored three times as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team posted a 15-10 non-conference home win over Cobleskill on Wednesday night.
 
The Dolphins jumped out to an early three goal lead on Wednesday after McEnaney, Michael Puchalski (Yorktown, N.Y.) and Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) all scored inside the first seven minutes of action. The Fighting Tigers would answer with the next three goals, before McEnaney scored his second of the quarter with two seconds left to give the Mount a 4-3 lead.
 
Ngaba tallied his first of the game in the first minute of the second quarter, but Cobleskill came back with the next two goals to tie the game at 5-5. Austin Fragale scored both goals for the visitors just over two minutes apart to tie the score for the second time in the game.
 
The Dolphins stormed back with four of the next five tallies to carry a 9-6 lead into halftime on Wednesday. Petito scored at the 9:59 mark of the quarter to break the tie before Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) gave the Dolphins the lead for good with a man-up goal with 5:36 left before the intermission. Ngaba would score twice for the Dolphins in the final 5:25 of the quarter to build the three goal advantage.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would allow just one goal in the third quarter and struck twice in the first 2:15 of the period to move in front 11-6. Charles Lloyd (Wheatley, N.Y.) scored his fifth goal of the season to open the scoring in the quarter and Petito potted his second of the game at 12:45. After a Cobleskill goal from Ryan Kissane, Petito tallied for the third time to give the Dolphins a 12-7 lead after 45 minutes of action.
 
The two teams would split six goals in the final stanza on Wednesday, but the Dolphins never allowed Cobleskill closer than five goals. McEnaney, Josh James (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Puchalski all found the back of the cage for the Dolphins in the final period.

Petito finished the game with three goals and a pair of assists and leads the team in both categories this season. He has registered 15 goals and eight assists for 23 points through eight games in 2014. McEnaney and Ngaba stand second and third on the team in point production after Wednesday's output with McEnaney sitting second with 16 points and Ngaba in third with 14. Puchalski added a pair of goals for the Mount in the win.
 
Maddaloni wrapped up the game with a game-high six caused turnovers and added four groundballs and a goal. Lloyd added 10 groundballs for the Dolphins and a goal, with Ngaba scooping six groundballs in the victory.
 
Cobleskill was paced by four goals and five points from Fragale and got a goal and 10 groundballs from Kissane. David Meyers closed a strong game with a goal, an assist, three groundballs and 17 face-off wins.
 
In addition to his goal, Kalibat recorded the win in goal for Mount Saint Vincent after stopping 10 shots. Eric Randazzo suffered the loss for the Fighting Tigers and making 17 saves in the contest.
 
Mount Saint Vincent held the edge on Wednesday in shots 46-29 and shots on goal 32-20. The Dolphins picked 41 groundballs in the game, three more than the visitors, and scored a pair of man-up goals in the contest. Cobleskill dominated in face-offs on Wednesday, winning 19 of the 27 contested.
 
Wednesday's win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 5-3 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a road non-conference game on Saturday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Face-off in Kings Point, N.Y. is slated for 1:00 p.m.
