Box Score
Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team was upended by Farmingdale State on Friday night by a score of 4-2, settling for a split of the 2014 season series. Sophomore Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) worked a complete game on the mound, while Mike Esposito (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) collected three hits.

After both teams picked up a run in the first inning, the Dolphins took their only lead of the game in the second with an unearned tally. Esposito reached on an error to start the frame before Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Casey Surdi (West Babylon, N.Y.) walked to load the bases. With two outs in the frame Esposito crossed with the Mount's second run of the night on a failed pick-off play at first base.

The one run lead would hold until the fourth inning when the Rams pushed across the equalizer on a two out error. After loading the bases with no one out, Krolikowski got a line out and a strikeout before a two out miscue forced home the equalizing run.

Tied at 2-2 in the fifth Farmingdale State scratched out two runs on two of its three hits in the game. Anthony Alvino singled through the right side and Edward Bergmann was forced home on a throwing error, before Alvino scored on a run scoring single from Michael Marino.

Mount Saint Vincent would get the tying run to scoring position in the fifth inning with two outs and would get it to the plate in the eighth and the ninth, but could not get the equalizer across.

The Dolphins outhit the Rams in the game 8-3 with Esposito going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a double, while Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.), Steven Giustino (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) and Leutrim 'Tim' Hoxha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) all singled. Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) drove in a run and Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) scored for the Mount.

Alvino, Marino and Sal Sanquini all singled for the Rams in the game. Bergmann scored twice for Farmingdale State and Marino drove in a pair of runs.

Krolikowski suffered the loss on Friday and fell to 1-4 after working his team leading third complete game of the season. He allowed three earned runs on three hits and struck out six in the game. Chris Dragone picked up the win in relief for the Rams, working 7.1 scoreless innings and striking out four.

Friday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 12-17 overall on the season and to 5-8 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again Saturday afternoon when they take on NYU-POLY on Senior Day. First pitch at Skylands Park in Frankford Twp., N.J. is set for 12:15 p.m.
