Dolphins Score Non-Conference Wins At UMass-Boston, Fisher

Brockton, Mass. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team picked up a pair of non-conference road wins on Thursday, topping UMass-Boston 11-1 and then downing Fisher by a score of 14-4. Senior Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) drove in three runs against the Beacons and Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.) delivered three runs in the nightcap against the Falcons.
 
In Thursday's opener, the Dolphins opened a 4-0 lead over UMass-Boston, taking advantage of two hits and an error. Mike Esposito (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) drove in Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.) with a single to open the scoring before Tyler Rieth (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) plated Weber with the eventual game winning run with an RBI groundout. Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) broke the inning open with a two-run single to close out the scoring in the frame.
 
After being held off the board in the second and third innings, the Dolphins plated four more runs in the fourth to pull in front 8-0. The Dolphins recorded just one hit in the stanza, with Weber singling to shortstop and later scoring on a double steal.
 
The Beacons finally broke through with a run in the home half of the sixth on a double from Jose Pena, but the Mount answered with three more runs in the seventh to close out the scoring in the game. Weber singled again to shortstop, delivering Schroeher before Sharpe singled through the left side to plate Pace and Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
 
Esposito and Weber each finished with two hits in the game with Weber scoring twice and Esposito adding a run and an RBI. Pace scored three times to lead the Dolphins with Sharpe scoring twice and driving in three. Sideli also crossed with two runs for the Dolphins.
 
The Dolphins used four pitchers in the game with Michael Kuczinski (Millstone Township, N.J.) picking up the win in relief. He worked three shutout innings, striking out two. Brian Rush (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Joseph Crosser (Cutchogue, N.Y.) each worked two scoreless innings for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Vincent pounded out 10 more hits against Fisher on Thursday night and broke the game open with five runs in the second and three more in the third. The Dolphins recorded just one hit in the big second inning, with Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) delivering two runs with a double. Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) added an RBI when he was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded.
 
Krolikowski added his second double of the game in the third and later scored an unearned run in the inning. Sharpe drove in his fourth run of the day with a double to right field that scored Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to get the Mount in front 8-0.
 
The Dolphins would add single runs in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings and scored three times in the sixth. In the big sixth, Robert Drake (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in Krolikowski with a single and Casey Surdi (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch.
 
Drake, Keith Brodesser (Copiague, N.Y.) and Krolikowski each collected two hits in the win, with Krolikowski ripping a pair of doubles. Brodesser and Krolikowski each scored three times with Krolikowski driving in two runs. Weber drove in three runs without a hit and Senisi scored four times. Cursi added two runs scored for the Mount and was hit with a pair of pitches.
 
The Mount used five pitchers in the game with Daniel DiLascio (Yonkers, N.Y.) picking up the win. Krolikowski made the start and worked two scoreless innings, while Zahedi Castillo (Bronx, N.Y.) and Corey Hourahan (Providence, R.I.) each working a scoreless inning.
 
With two wins on Thursday, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 11-16 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Monday when they play to host to league rival Mount Saint Mary. First pitch at Van Cortlandt Park is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
