Dolphins Defeated At Farmingdale State, Drop Fourth Straight Contest

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team had its losing streak extended to four games on Wednesday afternoon following a 14-9 Skyline Conference loss at Farmingdale State. The Dolphins had a trio of players score two goals in the game, with senior John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) posting a team-high four points.
 
The two teams split eight goals in the opening period, playing to a 4-4 tie after 15 minutes of play. Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) and Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) gave the Dolphins a 2-0 lead with goals just over a minute apart in the middle stages of the quarter.
 
The Rams would score four of the next five goals in the first period to pull in front 4-3, before Petito scored his first of the game with 1:21 left in the period to knot the score at 4-4.
 
Farmingdale State opened a 7-4 halftime lead on Wednesday with the only three goals of the second quarter before the teams again split eight goals in the third stanza. Petito scored in the first minute of the third quarter and the Mount scored three times in the final 4:08 of the stanza to slice its disadvantage to 11-8 after 45 minutes of play. Mike McEnaney (New York, N.Y.), Charles Lloyd (Wheatley, N.Y.) and Michael Puchalski (Yorktown, N.Y.) all scored in the third for the Mount.
 
Ngaba would get the Dolphins to within two goals early in the fourth quarter with a man-up goal, but Farmingdale State closed with the last three tallies of the game, including two goals in the final seven minutes to secure the victory.
 
Petito finished the night with two goals and two assists for Mount Saint Vincent, adding a groundball. Pat McEnaney added a groundball to his two goals and Ngaba posted three points on two goals and an assist. He added four groundballs, a caused turnover and seven face-off wins.
 
Junior Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) paced the Mount with seven groundballs and Joe Esposito (Bethpage, N.Y.) added four groundballs. Lloyd led the Mount with three caused turnovers and picked up two groundballs.
 
The Rams had five players with at least two goals in the game, led by three markers and an assist from Tom Rotanza. Daniel Desimone added two goals and an assist, while Philip Schaefer scored twice and assisted on two goals. Donovan Devaney had a big game for Farmingdale State, winning 16 face-offs and collecting 13 groundballs.
 
Senior Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) reached double-figures in saves for the ninth time this season for the seventh straight game after stopping 13 shots on Wednesday. Nicholas Fasano earned the win for the Rams with four saves and two groundballs.
 
Farmingdale State finished the game with a 40-21 advantage in shots and a 27-14 edge in shots on goal. The Rams won the groundball battle 40-29 and took 16 of the 24 face-offs taken in the game. Each team scored a pair of man-up goals in the game.
 
With Wednesday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 5-7 overall and to 0-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on April 23 when they travel to Maritime. Face-off with the Privateers is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
