Staten Island, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team lost a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, falling at Staten Island by scores of 5-0 and 6-5. Sophomore Tyler Krolikowski worked 6.0 innings in game one and drove in a pair of runs in game two for the Dolphins.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was held to just two hits in Sunday's opener, including a double off the bat of Krolikowski. Freshman Robert Drake (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up the other safety in the game for the Mount, a two-out single in the sixth inning.
 
Staten Island would get all the scoring it would need in the first inning with a two-out run. Will DiFede produced the eventual game winning run in the game with a single to right that drove home Joseph Palmeri.
 
Staten Island spread its lead out to 3-0 with two more runs in the second inning, including a two-out, run scoring double off the bat of Palmeri. The Dolphins would add insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings with a run scoring double from Tilson Brito in the fourth and an RBI single Chris Ramanauskas in the fifth.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outhit in game one 8-2, with Krolikowski and Drake each going 1-for-3. Robert McMahon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Mike Esposito (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) were the Mount's only other base runners after getting hit with a pitch and walking, respectively.
 
Palmeri rounded out the opener 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for Staten Island and Chris Falcone went 2-for-3 with two runs.
 
 
Krolikowski took the loss in game one for the Dolphins after working second complete game of the season. He surrendered five runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings, striking out two and walking three. Josh Bernstein earned the win for Staten Island, allowing just two hits and striking out six Mount Saint Vincent hitters.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would find itself down 6-0 in game two after five innings, before it plated five runs in its last two at-bats. Staten Island plated three runs in the first, a single run in the third and two more in the fifth to open the five run lead. Ramanauskas drove in two of the runs, with a run scoring double in the first and another in the third.
 
The visiting Dolphins would finally break through with three runs in the sixth on two hits. After Esposito was hit with a pitch and Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) singled, Krolikowski delivered both with a triple to right field. He later scored on an RBI groundout from Cristian Lynch (Mastic, N.Y.) to cut the deficit in half.
 
The Mount would get to within a run in its final at-bat and stranded the tying run. Craig Weber (Mineola, N.Y.) got things started with a one-out single and Drake followed with a single through the middle to bring the tying run to the plate.
 
After an error loaded the bases, both Weber and Drake scored on a second error from Staten Island to close out the scoring. A Mount Saint Vincent runner would be retired on the base paths for the second out to stall the rally.
 
Weber finished the contest 3-for-4 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot and Esposito went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Krolikowski closed out game two 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI.
 
Palmeri picked up two more hits and two more runs in game two for Staten Island with DiFede scoring twice and driving in two. Ramanauskas closed the contest 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
 
Robert Negron (Bronx, N.Y.) took the loss for Mount Saint Vincent, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings. He fanned two Staten Island hitters and walked one. Ryan Kennedy picked up the win, working 5.1 innings and allowing three runs. Jason Failla earned the save after striking out three three in 1.2 innings pitched.
 
Sunday's sweep stops a five game winning streak for the Dolphins and drops them to 5-8 overall. The Dolphins will look to get back into the win column on Tuesday when it hosts non-conference foe Baruch. First pitch at Van Cortlandt Park is set for 4:00 p.m.
