Bridgewater, Va. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball squad opened the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon with a pair of losses on the road at Bridgewater.
Leutrim 'Tim' Hoxha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) drove in two runs in an 8-2 game one loss and sophomore
Tyler Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) worked 5.0 shutout innings in a 10-2 setback in game two.

Mount Saint Vincent got off to a good start in Saturday's opening game and took a 1-0 lead in the second when Hoxha drove home
Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) with a single up the middle. Schroeher started the inning with a single and stole second to set up Hoxha's RBI single.

The Dolphins' lead would hold until Bridgewater plated two runs in the home half of the third inning. The Mount would answer with a run in the fourth inning to get back even at 2-2. Hoxha drove in his second run of the game with a single to right center field to plate
Mike Esposito (Rockaway Park, N.Y.).

The Eagles quickly regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth and added an insurance tally in the sixth when Nick Fulk drove home Derrik Walling with a two-out single. Bridgewater put the game away in the eighth and closed out the scoring in the game with four tallies. The big blow in the frame was a three-run home run from Walling. Fulk followed with a solo blast for the Eagles to secure the win.

Fulk finished game one 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. He was one of five players with multiple hits in the game for Bridgewater, including Zach Hynes who finished with a double and a triple. Walling scored three runs to go along with three RBI.

Hoxha rounded out Saturday's opener 3-for-4 at the plate with his two RBI. Schroeher and Esposito collected the only other Mount Saint Vincent hits in the game, with Esposito ripping his first double of the season. Both players scored runs for the Dolphins.

Senior
Brian Rush (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) suffered the loss in game one and fell to 0-1 on the season. He worked 4.0 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits. He struck out two and walked two in his first outing since 2012.
Joseph Crosser (Cutchogue, N.Y.) came on to work 4.0 innings in relief and struck out three, allowing five runs on eight hits.

Corey Armentrout picked up his second win of the season for Bridgewater, allowing two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings. He walked two and fanned six in moving to 2-0. Dillon Via picked up the save after working 2.0 scoreless innings and striking out three.

In game two on Saturday, the Dolphins struck first again getting on the board and grabbing a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) singled through the right side to push
Nicholas Pace (Cranford, N.J.) across with the first run of the contest. Pace singled to leadoff the frame and
Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was hit with a pitch to set up Sharpe's run scoring single.

The lead would hold until the sixth inning when the Eagles broke through for four runs to move in front 4-1. The Dolphins committed four errors in the inning leading to four unearned runs for the Eagles.

The game was put out of reach when Bridgewater plated six more runs in the eighth to take a commanding 10-1 advantage. The Eagles totaled eight hits in the inning with Walling closing out the scoring with a two-run single.

Mount Saint Vincent got a run back in its last at-bat when
Jason Rivera (Bronx N.Y.) blasted his first home run of the season. The blast is the fifth for Rivera with the Dolphins and moves him into a tie for fourth place on the all-time list.

Walling went 2-for-5 in the second game with two RBI, while Brendan Howell finished up 1-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Hynes tripled for the Eagles and drove in a run in the win.

Five different players finished with one hit for Mount Saint Vincent in game two with
Keith Brodesser (Copiague, N.Y.) and Rivera recording extra base hits. Brodesser hit his first double of the season and went 1-for-3 in the game. Pace and Rivera closed out game two with a hit and a run scores apiece.
Krolikowski worked 5.0 innings for the Dolphins and held the Eagles scoreless on three hits. He walked two hitters and struck out six in the no decision. Kyle Henshaw collected the win after allowing one run on four hits in 7.0 innings. He did not surrender a walk and struck out seven for Bridgewater.
At 0-2 overall on the season, Mount Saint Vincent will be back on the field Sunday afternoon when they take on Eastern Mennonite twice. First pitch with the Royals is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
