Schmitt wins major decision, two Dolphins win by fall against Yeshiva

New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Wrestling team split its first two dual meets of the season on Wednesday evening, topping Yeshiva 22-21 and falling to New York University by a score of 54-0. Four Dolphins picked up victories against the Maccabees, including a major decision win by Karl Schmitt (Westbury, N.Y.).
 
Wrestling in the 174 pound weight class on Wednesday, Schmitt posted a 14-3 win over Yeshiva's Chiam Metzger to help the Dolphins to the one point victory
 
Against the Maccabees, James Slendorn (Farmingdale, N.Y.) opened the meet with a pin of Yeshiva's Joshua Eisenberg 5:27 into the 133 pound bout.
 
Wrestling up in weight class, freshman Axel Urgiles (North Bergen, N.J.) picked up a pin against Yeshiva's Aaron Seigel 4:24 into the 149 weight class tilt.
 
Mount Saint Vincent also got a win by forfeit from Mark Kriston (Rutherford, N.J.) who won by forfeit at the 184 weight class.
 
With the split on Wednesday, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 1-1 overall in dual meet competition on the season. The Dolphins will open the home schedule in their next outing when they host Camden County College on December 20. Meet time in Riverdale is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
