Glenside, Pa. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team was tripped up on the road Wednesday evening with a hard fought 1-0 non-conference loss at Arcadia. Sophomore goalkeeper David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished the game with eight saves.
 
The lone goal of the game came in the 16th minute when Arcadia's Nick Morris finished off a crossing pass from Matt Ross for his second goal of the season. The goal would hold up as the game winner as the Mount was shutout for the second time this season.
 
The Knights finished the first half with 12 shots against six for the Dolphins with each goalkeeper making three saves. Both teams took one corner kick in the first 45 minutes of play.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would get off just four shots after halftime on Wednesday, with Arcadia recording 13 shots in the second stanza. Melchor kept the Dolphins within a goal with five saves in the second half, but the Dolphins would not manage a shot after the 56:44 mark of the contest when Pat Warman (LaGrange, N.Y.) fired an attempt high.
 
Arcadia outshot Mount Saint Vincent in the game 25-10, with Kevin Jardines (Los Angeles, Calif.), Andrew Gomez (Sun City, Calif.) and Jaime Salazar (Long Beach, Calif.) each recording two shots. Freshman Dennis Reyes (Waldwick, N.J.) recorded one shot and had his streak of seven straight games with a goal stopped.
 
The eight saves matched the season-high for Melchor, who saw his goals against average for the season fall to 2.33. Seth Shoap picked up the win for Arcadia with four saves in the game.
 
Following Wednesday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 5-6 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a road Skyline Conference tilt at Farmingdale State on Saturday. Kick-off with the Rams is set for 12:00 p.m.
