Nate Kalin will coach his first contest at Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon

Dolphins look to improve under first year head coach

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team will play its first contest under the direction of new head coach Nate Kalin on Saturday afternoon at the City College of New York. The Dolphins and Beavers will square off at Randall's Island field number 83 with kick-off set for 1:30 p.m.
 
Kalin takes the reigns of the men's soccer program after spending the last six seasons at Skyline rival NYU-POLY. While leading the Jays, Kalin amassed 42 victories, the most in the program's history. Kalin was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 after guiding the Jays to the best single season turnaround in Division III.
 
Off the pitch Kalin has also had success after mentoring 10 All-League players and two NCSAA All-Region players. Equally as impressive Kalin has had five Scholar All-Region players and 30 Skyline Conference Scholar Athletes.
 
Kalin has nine players returning from the 2012 season, including Barkel Foster (Staten Island, N.Y.), Hubert Bararwandika (Bronx, N.Y.), Joshua Zumbado (Bronx, N.Y.), Eric Lara (Pawtucket, R.I.), Matthew Samaan (Manalapan, N.J.), Tavelli Errar (Bronx, N.Y.), Julius Oke (Staten Island, N.Y.), Lhorgins Mareus (Silver Spring, Md.) and Elvist Lieku (Yonkers, N.Y.).
 
Samaan is the top scorer returning for the Dolphins after posting four goals, a pair of assists and 10 points as a freshman. Zumbado and Lara will look to anchor the defense for the Dolphins as seniors.
 
Mount Saint Vincent also welcomes a talented group of newcomers for the 2013 season as the Dolphins look to climb the Skyline Conference standings. Newcomers include: David Melchor (Fr/GK/Los Angles, Calif.), Nick Benitez (Fr./D/Floral Park, N.Y.), Mario Lopez (Fr./D/Suffern, N.Y.), Kevin Jardines (Fr./F-M/South Gate, Calif.), Pablo Tellez (Fr./M/El Monte, Calif.), Jonathan Barajas (Fr./F-M/Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.), Elias Rojas (Fr./M/Woodside, N.Y.), Marcial Aguilar (Fr./D/Yonkers, N.Y.), John Everson (Fr./D/Greenwood Lake, N.Y.), Jorge Chavez (Fr./M/West Covina, Calif.), Victor Ramirez (Fr./F/Los Angeles, Calif.), Alexi Aguilar (Fr/D/Los Angeles, Calif.) and Steven Garcia (Fr./D/Bridgeport, Conn.).
 
After playing back-to-back road game to open the season, the Mount will play five straight at home. The home opener is set for September 11 against Medgar Evers and the home stand includes games against Hunter, Cooper Union, Vaughn and the Culinary Institute of America.
 
The Dolphins will look to improve on a 2-10-1 overall record and a 0-9 mark in league play in 2012.
