Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team snapped a nine game skid with a come-from-behind 5-3 game one victory at Purchase on Monday, but settled for a split after falling to the Panthers in game two by a score of 5-1. Freshman Danielle Maffei (Valhalla, N.Y.) drove in two runs for the Dolphins in the opener.

The Dolphins needed a three run rally in the game one win after falling behind 3-1 in the bottom half of the third inning. ToniAnn Licata keyed the three run inning for the Panthers with a two out, two-run double.

After plating a run in the third on a double play, the Dolphins were held off the board by Purchase starter Christine Leo until the seventh. After the three of the first four hitters reached in the inning for Mount Saint Vincent, Maffei cleaned off the bases and pushed the Dolphins in front 5-3 with a double.

Mount Saint Vincent starter Kathryn Dalton (Northampton, Pa.) came on to set the Panthers down in order in the seventh to pick up her fourth win of the season.

The Dolphins finished the game with 14 hits in the game and had three players with three safeties in the game. Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Maffei wrapped up 3-for-4 with two RBI. Danielle Kirrane (Bronx, N.Y.) also had a big day, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Dalton moved to 4-10 on the season after working a complete game and striking out nine. She allowed two earned runs on five hits. Leo suffered the loss after allowing five runs on 14 hits.

In game two, Purchase did all of its scoring in the first inning after the first eight hitters of the frame reached base. Licata was in the middle of the rally again for Purchase, ripping a three-run double to give the Panthers all the scoring they would need.

The Dolphins would get their only run of the game in the top half of the second on just one hit. Victoria Cardillo (Boston, Mass.) led off the inning with a walk and later crossed on a passed ball to close out the scoring in the game.

Cardillo finished the game 1-for-2 with a run. She was one of six Dolphins in the game with a hit, while Maffei went 0-for-3, snapping an 11 game hitting streak.

Licata was one of five different Purchase players with a base hit in game two and totaled three RBI along with a run scored. The first five hitters in the Panthers' lineup finished with a run scored.

Rebecca Pascarelli picked up the win for Purchase and moved to 1-4 after allowing one run on six hits. Davis took the loss for Mount Saint Vincent. She fell to 1-7 on the year, but stuck one nine.

With Monday's split the Dolphins moved to 5-17 overall on the season and to 2-6 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent will be back on the diamond again on Thursday when it travels to Ramapo. First pitch with the Roadrunners is set for 3:00 p.m.
