Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team dropped a non-conference decision to New Jersey City University on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 10-8.
Dan DiLascio (Yonkers, N.Y.) worked 7.0 innings for the Dolphins and
Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) extended his hitting streak to 21 games.
After allowing an unearned run in the first inning, Mount Saint Vincent plated a pair of runs in the second to move in front 2-1.
Keith Brodesser (Copiague, N.Y.) drove home
Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) with a walk and Schroeher plated
Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with a sacrifice fly.
The Gothic Knights knotted the score at 2-2 in the fourth on a Rob Roman RBI single and then pulled in front 3-2 in the fifth inning on an Andrew Rivera sacrifice fly to left field.
Mount Saint Vincent quickly answered to tie the score in the home half of the fifth inning when
Steven Maio (Thornwood, N.Y.) singled through the left side delivering
Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to tie the score at 3-3.
The Dolphins went on to plate four runs in the sixth inning and take a 7-3 lead, taking advantage of three hits and three NJCU errors. Schroeher extended his hitting streak with a run scoring triple and scored on a miscue in center fielder and Maio later drove home Senisi to push the Mount in front by four.
NJCU would hold the Dolphins to one run in their final three at-bats and went on to outscore the Dolphins 7-1 after the sixth. Pete Senyszyn drove home two runs with a single in a three run eighth inning and Michael Paterson supported a three-run ninth inning with a bases loaded walk.
Rivera finished the day 3-for-4 for NJCU with three RBI and Patterson scored three runs. Senyszyn recorded two hits to go along with two runs scored and two RBI in the win for the Gothic Knights.
Maio finished the game with two of the Mount's eight hits and drove home two runs. Schroeher also drove home two runs for Mount Saint Vincent in the game and Senisi added a hit and two runs scored.
DiLascio worked 7.0 effective innings and allowed two earned runs. He allowed seven hits and struck out one.
John McQuade (Long Beach, N.Y.) suffered the loss after allowing three runs and three walks in 1.0 inning.
Wendell Rodriguez picked up the win for NJCU in relief after throwing the final 3.2 innings. He surrendered one run on four hits and struck out four Dolphins.
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-26 on the season.. The Dolphins will return to the diamond on Wednesday when they close out the conference schedule against Yeshiva. First pitch at Van Cortlandt Park is set for 2:00 p.m.
