Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team was dealt 20-3 and 12-1 losses on Sunday by visiting Purchase. Freshman Keith Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) extended his program best hitting streak to 15 games with a base hit in each end of the doubleheader.
 
Mount Saint Vincent fell behind in the early going in game one after Purchase plated five runs in each of the first two innings. The Panthers sent 10 hitters to the plate in their first at-bat and got two-run doubles from Michael Skoller and Josh Spielberg.
 
Purchase sent 11 more hitters to the plate in the second inning and got a second two-run double from Skoller in the inning. Daniel Stroud and Ronald Echavarria also drove in runs with doubles for the visitors.
 
The Panthers scored at least three runs in their first five at-bats in game one, before Mount Saint Vincent got on the board with all three of its runs in the home half of the fifth. After Josh Sharp (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) singled to open the inning, the Mount got three straight run scoring base hits.
 
Steven Maio (Thornwood, N.Y.) drove in Sharpe with a double before Mike Esposito (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) and Leutrim 'Tim' Hoxha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) delivered runs with singles.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outhit in game one 21-11 with Purchase showing six players with at least two hits. Skoller finished the game an impressive 6-for-6 with four doubles, four runs scored and five RBI. Stroud was 3-for-5 with three doubles and scored three times for the Panthers.
 
Sharpe, Rivera and Maio each finished with two hits and a run scored for the Dolphins in the opener. Schroeher went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Joseph Senisi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) reached twice via the walk in game one.
 
In the back end of the doubleheader, the two teams played scoreless until Purchase broke through with two runs in the fourth. Stoud scored on a wild pitch to open the scoring before Justin Sherman scored on a run scoring groundout.
 
Purchase would go on to break game two open with five tallies in the fifth and five more in the sixth. Sherman delivered a two-run single in the big fifth for the Panthers and Echavarria doubled home two more runs in the sixth.


Mount Saint Vincent scored its lone run of the game in the home half of the fifth inning when Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) doubled home Schroeher who walked with two outs in the inning.
 
Skoller closed out a strong afternoon with three more hits in game two with Echavarria collecting two hits and three RBI. Colin Morris also drove in three runs and Stroud scored three times.
 
Sideli and Maio finished with two hits for Mount Saint Vincent and Schroeher extended his hitting streak with a 1-for-3 effort to go along with a run scored. Sideli and Keith Brodesser (Copiague, N.Y.) each ripped a double for the Dolphins.
 
Sunday's results drop Mount Saint Vincent to 2-23 overall on the season and to 2-8 against league opponents. Next up for the Mount is a non-conference match-up with Lehman on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
