Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team dropped its second straight match on Tuesday night following a 13-25, 11-25 and 21-25 loss at the hands of Skyline Preseason Favorite Kean. Sophomore James DiGiovanni (Bay Shore, N.Y.) finished the night with a team-high 13 assists.
 
After playing to five ties in the opening frame on Tuesday, the contest would be knotted just three more times the rest of the night. After jumping to the lead twice in the early going in the opening frame, the Dolphins would not take another lead until 4-1 run to open the third frame.
 
The Cougars would overcome an 8-3 deficit in the third with an 11-3 run keyed by seven Mount Saint Vincent miscues. Krzysztok Kucza also aided the Kean spurt with a pair of kills.
 
The Dolphins were led on the night by four winners from both Brett Holiday (Stratford, N.J.) and Timothy Kolodny (Woodland Hills, Calif.). Kolodny added a team-high 10 digs and both of the Dolphins' service aces. Holiday chipped in with three digs and a total block.
 
DiGiovanni added two digs and a block assist to his assist total, with Tyler Eagan (Laurel Springs, N.J.) lifting six defensive digs. Cedric Ellison (Worcester, Mass.) produced a kill and a team-high two blocks on the night.
 
The visiting Cougars were paced by eight kills from Kucza and received seven winners and an impressive .875 attack percentage from Matthew Scheuermann. Tommy Rosario added six kills for the visitors with Shheuermann and Rosario totaling three and four blocks respectively.
 
Josh Haimann led all players in the contest with 18 assists and Michael Kucza lifted a match-high 12 digs. Ron Dunn contributed 10 assists for Kean and a pair of kills.
 
For the match, Kean finished with the advantage in kills 32-16 and hit .270 as a team. The Cougars also led in service aces 4-2, with Rosario posting three, and total team blocks 7.5-3.
 
With Tuesday's defeat Mount Saint Vincent falls to 2-5 overall and in league play. The Dolphins will look to get back on track this weekend with four matches at the Bard Raptors Tournament. The event kicks-off Friday with matches against Bard and Keuka starting at 5:00 p.m.
