Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team was dealt a 3-2 loss to league rival Old Westbury on Saturday night. A pair of freshmen tallied for the Dolphins in
Victor Ramirez (Los Angeles, Calif.) and
Jorge Chavez (West Covina, Calif.), while
David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) made nine saves.

Mount Saint Vincent got on the board in the 12
th minute with the only goal of the first half when Ramirez converted his second penalty kick of the season. He tucked a ball inside the right post at 11:19 for his ninth goal of the season.

The one goal lead would hold until the 59
th minute when Old Westbury got the equalizer off the head of Adan Cruz-Velasquez. He headed a crossing feed off the foot of Anthony Ippolito past Melchor at 58:22 for his eighth tally of 2013.

Mount Saint Vincent would answer and retake a one goal lead just over 10 minutes later when Chavez found the back of the net off a failed clearing attempt at 68:49.

The Dolphins would cling to the one goal lead until the final 17 minutes when Old Westbury's Dan Giorgi converted a pair of penalty kicks, the game winner with 52 seconds left, to secure the win for the visiting Panthers.

Melchor closed out the night with nine stops for the Mount, including six in the first half to keep the Dolphins in front by a goal after 45 minutes. Marcelo Guardado picked up the win with a single save for Old Westbury.

Overall in the game, Old Westbury held a 24-9 advantage in overall shots and a 12-3 edge in shots on goal. The Panthers also finished with a commanding 7-2 edge in corner kicks.

Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 10-4 overall on the season and to 1-4 in league play. The Dolphins will return to action again on Wednesday for a non-conference game with Cobleskill. Kick-off at Purchase is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.Â
