Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team fell for the second time in as many outings on Tuesday afternoon following a 3-1 conference loss to visiting Mount Saint Mary. Freshman Jorge Chavez (West Covina, Calif.) scored the lone goal for the Mount in the game.
 
Mount Saint Mary got the scoring going in the early going on Tuesday when Rob Thompson tallied for the Knights in the fourth minute. He corralled a rebound off a free kick from Nick Blomfield at 3:16 and found the back of the net for an early one goal advantage.
 
The Dolphins would get the equalizer off the foot of Chavez in the 10th minute to pull even and get their first goal in conference play. Matthew Samaan (Manalapan, N.J.) fed a pass from the top of the box towards the far post where Chavez nudged it home at 9:20 to knot the score at a goal apiece.
 
Tuesday's contest would remain tied until the late stages of the first frame when the Knights got the eventual game winner from Michael Ennis. He took a pass off the right wing from Jarrett Armstrong in the box and scored at 36:33 to give the visitors the lead for good on the day.
 
The one goal advantage for Mount Saint Mary would stand until the 59th minute when it got an insurance goal off the foot of Sean Lockwood. Ennis got a pass off from the right side of the box that Lockwood buried in the upper right corner to close out the scoring at the 58:13 mark of the match.
 
Mount Saint Mary rounded out the game with five different players with at least one point on Tuesday. Ennis led the way with a goal and an assist to close out a three point afternoon.
 
Chavez found the scoring column for Mount Saint Vincent for the fifth time this season and now sits tied for fourth on the team in points with 12. Samaan's helper tied him for second on the team in the category and he stands third on the team in points with 13.
 
Freshman David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) rounded out the day with a career-high nine saves, including five in the opening 45 minutes of action. Matt Darling closed the day with seven stops in net for the Knights.
 
Overall, Mount Saint Mary closed the afternoon with a 25-14 advantage in shots, while corner kicks were even a three apiece on the day.
 
Following Tuesday's loss Mount Saint Vincent falls to 9-2 overall on the season and to 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be off until Sunday when they travel to league foe NYU-POLY. Kick-off with the Jays is set for 2:00 p.m.
