Riverdale, N.Y. – Under the direction of second year head coach Gianni Grimaldi, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer squad will open the 2012 campaign on Saturday afternoon against the City College of New York. Kick-off at Fleming Park in Yonkers, N.Y. is set for 4:00 p.m.
The Dolphins picked up just a single win in 2011, but return Hubert Barawandika (Bronx, N.Y.),
Joshua Zumbado (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Joseph Rosado (Highland Falls, N.Y.) who each tallied one goal and two points on the season.
Mount Saint Vincent will also welcome back
Elvist Lieku (Yonkers, N.Y.) who appeared in all 12 contests and made 10 starts, along with
Eric Lara (Pawtucket, R.I.) who played in and started in eight contests.
Julius Oke (Staten Island, N.Y.) will also look to step in and contribute during his sophomore season.
Although returning a solid core from 2011, the Dolphins will look to replace
Javier Mandujano who totaled four points on a goal and two assists and
Matt Calandrillo who played 11 games in goal and made 70 saves and recorded one shutout.
The Dolphins will also look to take advantage of eight home matches in 2012, including four against league opponents. Following the CCNY contest on Saturday, the Mount will host York on September 6 before taking on Sarah Lawrence on the road on September 8. After the game against the Gryphons, the Mount will play its next three on home turf.
Mount Saint Vincent closed out the 2011 season at 1-11 overall and 1-7 against Skyline Conference opponents.
