Morristown, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball squad picked up a non-conference split on Tuesday afternoon at Saint Elizabeth, scoring a 7-6 come from behind win in game one and then falling 7-5 in game two. Freshman pitcher
Kathleen Davis (Beacon, N.Y.) fanned 11 in the opener and senior
Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) collected three hits in game two.
After falling behind 2-0 after one inning in Tuesday's first contest, the Mount rallied for three runs in the top of the second.
Ashley Winn (Brooklyn, N.Y.) singled to lead off the frame and
Courtney Keane (Yonkers, N.Y.) pushed her to second after getting a hit with a pitch.
Mount Saint Vincent got on the board with an RBI single from
Victoria Cardillo (Boston, Mass.) and tied the score on a sacrifice fly from
Joanna Makayan (Queens, N.Y.). The go ahead tally came home after O'Shea reached on a fielding error with two outs in the inning.
The 3-2 would hold until the Eagles retook the lead with four tallies in the home half of the fifth inning. With one out in the inning Saint Elizabeth put together four straight hits to tie the score and the pull in front with a run scoring groundout. Saint Elizabeth also scored twice in the inning on passed balls.
Down by a run heading to the seventh, the Dolphins rallied for four runs of their own to sneak away with the game on victory. Makayan drove home two runs in the inning and the Mount took advantage of three Saint Elizabeth errors in the frame.
After allowing a one out base runner to reach in the seventh, Davis retired the next two hitters to pick up her seventh victory of the year. She allowed only three earned runs on nine hits in the game. She matched her career-high with 11 punch outs and has now fanned at least 10 hitters in each of the last four games.
Makayan finished the game with three RBI and a run scored, with
Brianna Mooney (Yonkers, N.Y.) going 1-for-2 with a run. Mooney also walked twice for Mount Saint Vincent and stole two bases.

Davis led off the big inning with a single, before getting doubled to third by Winn. Davis would later score on a wild pitch before
Rosanna Pulice (Bronx, N.Y.) plated Winn win with a single. The big blow in the inning was a two-run double from
Casey Leake (Putnam Valley, N.Y.).
The Dolphins outhit the Eagles in the game 10-7, with O'Shea rounding out the tilt 3-for-4 with a double. Leake went 2-for-3 with a team-high two RBI and a run in the game, with Winn adding a double and a run.
