Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team dropped its third straight decision on Tuesday night following an 18-5 loss to visiting Ramapo. The Dolphins had seven different players record a hit, including
Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) who hit his team leading third home run of the year.
The Roadrunner ran out to an early 9-0 lead on Tuesday after plating eight unearned runs in the first inning. Ramapo would score at least one run in its first six at-bats and plated multiple runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings.
Mount Saint Vincent would get on the board with three runs in the third inning when its first five hitters of the inning reach safely. After
Mike Esposito (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was hit with a pitch to lead off the frame and Gerald Amerodi (Staten Island, N.Y.) drew a walk,
Christian Lavery (Westbury, N.Y.) delivered an RBI double for the Dolphins' first run of the night.
Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) also plated runs in the inning.
Rivera would lead of the sixth inning with a solo shot to right center field, extending his team lead in home runs to three and RBI to 36. He finished the night 1-for-4 for the Dolphins.
Amerosi, Lavery and Esposito all finished the night with a double for Mount Saint Vincent with Esposito reaching base three times on the night. He also scored a pair of runs for Mount Saint Vincent.
Ramapo finished the night with 21 hits, with 10 going for extra bases. Dave Jacob finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run for the Roadrunners and rounded out the night with four runs scored and five RBI. Chris Werr doubled twice and scored three times as Ramapo had 12 different players record a hit.
Walker Larson earned the win for Ramapo and moved to 2-1 on the season after working 6.0 effective innings. He allowed four runs on four hits and recorded nine strikeouts against one walk. In all, Ramapo pitchers finished the night with 15 strikeouts.
Jeff Martin (West Babylon, N.Y.) suffered the loss after allowing just one earned run, with
Dan DiLascio (Yonkers, N.Y.) and
Michael Kuczinski (Millstone Township, N.J.) combing for three scoreless innings of relief.
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 12-16 overall on the season heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The Dolphins will be back in action on Friday when they take on Yeshiva. First pitch for the road set at Van Cortlandt Park is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
