Aurora, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team had its three game winning streak stopped with a 7-6 loss on the road at Wells. Senior captain Dan Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y.) scored three goals in the game and Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) made 10 saves.
 
Mount Saint Vincent ran out to a 5-0 lead on Saturday, scoring four of its five first half goals in the first 12 minutes of the game. Cohen opened the scoring with back-to-back goals, before Larry Caputo (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored his first of the season at the 3:59 mark of the opening stanza.
 
Cohen would push the lead to 4-0 with 3:25 to play in the first quarter and Matt Barlow (Bronx, N.Y.) got the Dolphins out to a commanding five goal advantage with the team's only goal of the second frame.
 
After building a 5-1 lead heading into the half, Mount Saint Vincent was stifled in the second 30 minutes, scoring just one goal. After Forrest Lambert got the Express on the board with under a minute to play in the second quarter, Wells scored three consecutive goals to open the third to get to within 5-4.
 
Bruce Pappas (Montrose, N.Y.) got the Mount back in front by two goals when he deposited his 14th goal of the season with just under two minutes to play in the third period.
 
Wells would hold Mount Saint Vincent scoreless in the deciding fourth quarter and netted three goals, including the game winner from Lambert with 33 ticks left to play in regulation.
 
With his scoring output in Saturday's game, Cohen ran his team leading goal total to 16 and he also has a team-high in points with 26. Cohen also finished the game with a team-high 10 groundballs.
 
Pappas added an assist to his marker and also scooped six groundballs. Matt Desimone (Congers, N.Y.) rounded out the game with a team-high two caused turnovers.
 
Lambert paced the winning effort for Wells with two goals, including the game winner and Joe Mulchaney netted a hat trick and added an assist. Lambert also led the team with five groundballs.
 
Kalibat posted at least 10 saves in a game for the eighth time this season and he also added three groundballs. Christopher Galluzzo earned the win for Wells in the cage with 11 stops and also added a pair of groundballs.
 
For the game, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Wells 39-28 and also held the edge in groundballs 59-37. Mount Saint Vincent also went 10-for-14 in face-offs as a team, with Derek Wilson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) winning all 10 draws and picking up two groundballs.
 
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will look to get back into the win column on Sunday when they take on Misericordia. Face-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
