Dallas, Pa. – After winning three straight games heading into Saturday, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team fell for the second time in as many days on Sunday after a 16-1 loss at Misericordia. Bruce Pappas (Montrose, N.Y.) picked up the goal for the Dolphins and Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up a team-high four groundballs.
 
The Dolphins found themselves in a 4-0 hole after the opening 15 minutes after Lee Blair netted three of Misericordia's four tallies in the first quarter.
 
Trevor Bodnar gave the Cougars a 5-0 lead early in the second frame, before Pappas got the Dolphins on the board with his 15th tally of the season at the 10:27 mark of the second stanza.
 
From there, Misericordia put the game away with three straight goals to take an 8-1 lead into halftime. The Cougars would go on to shutout the Dolphins in the second 30 minutes and put eight more tallies on the board, including four markers from Sean McGuigan.
 
The scoring output was the lowest of the season for the Mount and the 16 goals against was a season-high. The Cougars featured nine different goal scorers and were led by five markers from McGuigan.
 
Blair finished the contest with four goals for Misericordia and J.R. Lauri finished the day with four points on the strength of three assists. Andrew Reynolds and Drew Abatangelo each picked up five groundballs, with Reynolds going 10-for-14 on face-offs.
 
Pappas added a pair of groundballs to his goal, with Larry Caputo (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Adrian Go (Fairlawn, N.J.) each finishing the game with a pair of caused turnovers.
 
Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) saw the bulk of action in the game and made 11 saves to go along with two groundballs. Dom Scipioni (Bronx, N.Y.) also saw time in the cage and made 10 stops. Patrick Johnson led the Cougars to the win with 11 saves and four groundballs.
 
Misericordia finished the day with a commanding advantage in shots at 55-24 and also held a 44-24 edge in groundballs. The Cougars also won 16 of the 21 face-offs in the game, with Derek Wilson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) winning four of the Dolphins' five.
 
The loss sends Mount Saint Vincent to a 5-4 overall record. The Dolphins will look to get back on track Thursday when they continue their road trip at Mitchell. Face-off in New London, Conn is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
