Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team dropped its fifth straight contest on Tuesday with a 54-36 loss at the hands of Mount Saint Mary. Desiree Rosa (Dumont, N.J.) was the lone Mount Saint Vincent player in double-figures with 10 points.

The Dolphins never led in the game and were forced to use a timeout just 2:16 into the tilt after the Knights jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead. Amanda Horvers pushed the lead to 11 with a three-pointer and Jen Mocanu capped a 15-2 run to open the game with a jumper at the 13:45 mark of the first stanza.

Mount Saint Vincent would battle back to get to within four points, at 17-13, after a 7-0 run keyed by a Shannon Koch (Kings Park, N.Y) triple at the just over 10 minutes left. Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would cap the spurt with a fast break bucket at the 9:52 mark.

The Montague basket would be the last field goal of the half for the Dolphins, who would score just three points the rest of the period. A pair of Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) free-throws and a conversion from Amy Delva (Nanuet, N.Y.) from the line would be the only points the rest of the period as the Knights carried a 30-16 lead into the intermission.

Mocanu led all scorers at the break with 14 points as the Knights used the strength of three triples to pull in front at the break. Mount Saint Mary also took advantage of 16 first half turnovers from the Dolphins and turned those into 14 points.

The Mount Saint Vincent offense continued to sputter in the second half on Tuesday as it went scoreless for nearly the first nine minutes of the frame. A Fraser baseline jumper with 11:17 to play in regulation became the first field goal for the Mount since the Montague bucket at the midway point of the first half.

Mount Saint Mary took advantage using a 12-0 run to open the period to pull in front by 26, its largest lead of the game.

The Dolphins finished the game shooting 24.1-percent from the floor, going just 13-for-54. Rosa led the way with 10 points after going 2-for-4 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) finished the night with a game-high 14 rebounds for Mount Saint Vincent and also chipped in with four points and a blocked shot. Fraser finished the night with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

The visiting Knights shot just 29.6-percent for the game, but were opportunistic after turning 31 Dolphin turnovers into 28 points. Mocanu led all scorers with a game-high 20 points and also swiped four steals and grabbed five rebounds.

Charneice McCullough paced the Knights with five assists on the night to go along with a team-high seven rebounds, while Amanda Horvers dropped in seven points.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-16 overall on the season and to 1-10 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Mount is a trip to league rival Purchase on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
