Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of eight City College of New York errors on Tuesday night on its way to a convincing 20-2 win. T.J. Laible (Rockaway, N.Y.) scored four runs for the Mount, while four players finished the night with three RBI.

Mount Saint Vincent got on the board in the bottom of the first with an unearned run and then broke the game open with four tallies in the third and six more in the fourth. The big fourth inning was capped by a two run single from Rob DeLuca (Yonkers, N.Y.).

The Dolphins kept adding on and rounded out the scoring on the night with an eight run sixth inning. Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) and Leutrim 'Tim' Hoxha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) keyed the inning, each driving in a pair of runs.

Overall on the night, the Mount offense picked up season-highs in hits with 11 and runs with 20. The Dolphins hit three doubles, stole six bases, drew eight walks and were hit with four pitches.

Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), Hoxha, and DeLuca each finished with a pair of hits, including a double. Sharpe and Hoxha each scored three times, with Hoxha driving in three runs.

Laible led all players with four runs scored and was on base three times after drawing two walks and getting plunked with a pitch. Mark Sargente (Commack, N.Y.) and Rivera also reached twice in the game via the free pass.

For the second straight game, the Mount got a strong effort from their starting pitcher. Mike McManus (Queens, N.Y.) worked 5.0 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. He matched his career-high with 11 strikeouts and did not walk a batter as he moved to 1-0 on the season.

Senior Matt Calandrillo (Cold Spring, N.Y.) worked three scoreless innings in relief and fanned three batters and Anthony Granitto (Bronx, N.Y.) closed out the ninth with a clean inning or work.

The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 2-0 for just the second time in program history. The last time came when the Dolphins opened the season with seven straight wins to start 2006. The Dolphins will be back to work on Saturday afternoon when they play host to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a non-conference doubleheader. The set with the Bears is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Manhattan College.
