Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball squad had its losing skid extended to three matches on Saturday afternoon with a pair of 3-0 losses in a Skyline Conference quad-match at NYU-POLY. The Dolphins fell to Kean by scores of 15-25, 18-25 and 14-25 before being dropped by the host Blue Jays by scores of 20-25, 21-25 and 13-25.
Playing its second straight match against Kean on Saturday, the Dolphins were paced by
Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who recorded seven kills. He also finished up the match with six defensive digs for Mount Saint Vincent.
Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) picked up six kills against the Cougars and also finished with four digs and one of the team's two service aces.
Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) rounded out the match with a team-high 17 assists to go along with three digs.
Steve Vahalla paced the Cougars on Saturday after recording eight kills and hitting an even .500. Christian Portera picked up five kills, while Sam Haimann lifted a match-high nine digs. Ron Dunn handed out 13 assists in the win for Kean.
After hitting a blistering .426 on Wednesday against the Mount, Kean hit .250 as a unit on Saturday. The Cougars lifted three more digs in the match then the Dolphins and held the edge in total team blocks 8.5-2.0.
Against NYU-POLY, the Dolphins were led by Ecock and
Mark Sargente (Commack, N.Y.) who each totaled six kills. Ecock also lifted three digs and recorded a pair of total blocks, while Sargente picked up five digs and one block.
Timothy Kolodny (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was the team leader for the Mount in digs with six, while
Brett Holiday (Stratford, N.J.) posted four total blocks and three kills. Sin was again the team leader in assists with 16 against the Blue Jays.
NYU-POLY received a match-high 10 kills from Fild Kroqi who finished the match hitting an impressive .368. Joe Gabor lifted five digs to lead NYU-POLY and Rishi Sarkar handed out a match-high 25 assists.
As a team, Mount Saint Vincent hit .173 against the Blue Jays and lifted 24 digs to NYU-POLY's 11. The Blue Jays held a 10.5-7.0 advantage in total team blocks in the match.
The loss sees Mount Saint Vincent fall to 2-5 overall on the season and to 1-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to rebound on February 14 when they travel to Yeshiva. The match with the Maccabees is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
