Softball Has Winning Streak Snapped At Old Westbury

Old Westbury, N.Y.  – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team was no-hit twice on Saturday and had its three game winning streak snapped at Old Westbury. The Dolphins fell in the opener 8-0 and Old Westbury completed the sweep with a 14-0 triumph in game two.

Old Westbury broke up a scoreless game in the bottom of the third when it plated a pair of runs and then went on to secure the win with four in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Samantha Seigler helped break the game open in the fourth with a two-run double.

 
Mount Saint Vincent had just one base runner in the opener after Ashley Winn (Queens, N.Y.) reached on an error in the third inning. The Panthers outhit the Dolphins in the game 11-0 with three players collecting a pair of hits. Seigler finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI for Old Westbury.

 
The Panthers blew game two open early after they plated 12 runs in their first at-bat. The Dolphins committed six errors in the inning combined with 12 hits from Old Westbury. Jennifer Jean had the big hit in the inning, driving in three runs with a bases loaded double in the first.

 
Old Westbury collected 11 more hits in game two and had four players with a pair of safeties. Jean went 2-for-3 in the game with a pair of runs scored and four driven in. Jessica Spero went 2-for-3 in the game and also drove in two runs.

 
Alyssa Clancy worked both no-hitters for Old Westbury. She combined to work 10.0 innings on the day and pick up 11 strikeouts, including eight in game one. Kelly Donlon (Carmel, N.Y.) suffered both losses for the Dolphins, but allowed only seven earned runs over the two games.

 
The pair of losses drops Mount Saint Vincent to 4-19 overall on the season and to 0-8 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look for their first league win of the season on Sunday when they play host to Mount Saint Mary. The twinbill at Westchester Community College if scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
