, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team suffered a 4-0 loss to second seeded Farmingdale St. on Friday evening in the Skyline Conference Tournament. The Dolphins were three hit in the game with Anthony Mongelli (Flushing, N.Y.) working 6.1 effective innings. 

Farmingdale St. scored a pair of runs in the third and the sixth innings to give starter Chris Phelan all the run support he would need. Phelan worked a complete game and improved to 6-3 after allowing three singles. He struck out 11 Mount Saint Vincent batters and walked just one.

 

After a pair of walks in the third and a wild pitch, Farmingdale State's Terrence Bohonan delivered the eventual game winning run with a two-run single to right field. In the two-run sixth inning, Thomas Butler Danny DeVito drove in runs for insurance.

 

Farmingdale St. finished the game with only five hits and was led by David Zilnicki who went 2-for-4 with a double. Four different players scored a run for the Rams as they advanced to take on Old Westbury on Saturday morning.

 

Christain Lavery (Westbury, N.Y.), Fernando Suriel (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Benjamin Toro, Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) all singled for the Dolphins. After Toro singled in the third, Mount Saint Vincent did not get another hit until Suriel singled in the seventh.

 

Mongelli worked 6.1 innings on Friday and fell to 2-5 on the season after the loss. He allowed four earned runs on five hits in the game. He walked four batters and fanned three. James Puma (Valhalla, N.Y.) came on to work 1.2 scoreless innings out of the pen, striking out three.

 

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 15-22 on the season and brings it one game from elimination in the tournament. The Dolphins will look to stay alive when they play top seeded St. Joseph's-L.I. in the first elimination game of the tournament. First pitch with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
