Bronxville, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team closed out the Skyline Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon by being swept by visiting Farmingdale St. The Rams won game one 18-0 before completing the sweep with a 25-0 win in game two. Ashley Winn (Queens, N.Y.) picked up the Dolphins' lone hit in game two.
Farmingdale St. scored in each inning over the two games, including a seven run second inning in game one and a 10 run fifth inning in game two. The Rams totaled 44 hits over the two games and had the first four hitters in their lineup record three hits in game two.
Nicole Farber had a big day for Farmingdale St. after going a combined 8-for-10 over the set with 16 RBI. Farber connected on three grand slams on the day and hit four of the Rams nine home runs over the two games. In game one Farber went 5-for-5 with three runs scored.
Heather Buckshaw picked up both wins on Saturday and allowed just one hit combined. She no-hit the Dolphins in game one and struck out eight, allowing just one base runner. In game two, Buckshaw fanned five, allowing just a single in the first inning. The no hitter was the fifth against the Dolphins this season and the two shutouts were the 17th and 18th against.
Winn finished game two 1-for-2 for Mount Saint Vincent and was one of just three base runners on the day. Winn also suffered the loss in the circle in game two.
The sweep drops Mount Saint Vincent to 4-25 overall on the season and to 0-14 against Skyline opponents. The Dolphins will be back in action again on April 20 when they play at Sarah Lawrence. The single game will get under way at 5:30 p.m.
