Purchase, N.Y. –
The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball squad suffered a sweep at league rival Purchase on Friday afternoon. The Dolphins dropped game one by a score of 11-6 and then fell in game two by a score of 9-0. Ashley Winn (Queens, N.Y.) picked up two hits in the opener and also added a run and an RBI.

The Dolphins scored a pair of runs in the top of the first in game one without a hit after they took advantage of a pair of Purchase errors. Ciarra Silva (Bronx, N.Y.) and Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) each scored on two out errors in the inning.

 
Purchase responded in the bottom of the first with five runs of its own on five base hits. Erika Stahl delivered the big hit in the inning with a two run double for the Panthers. The Dolphins avoided further damage in the inning as they left the bases loaded after a groundout with the bases loaded.

 
The Panthers added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth after they recorded three hits and took advantage of two Mount Saint Vincent errors. Stahl added another run scoring double in the frame as Purchase opened a 10-2 lead heading to the fifth inning.

 
Mount Saint Vincent started a comeback in the top of the fifth, as it scored two in that inning and two more in the sixth. Winn ripped a run scoring double in the fifth inning and Silva and O'Shea each drove in a run in the sixth to bring the Mount to within 11-6 after Purchase added an insurance run in the fifth.

 
The Dolphins were outhit in game one 13-4 in the game with Winn collecting half of the Mount's hit total after going 2-for-4. Silva scored twice and added an RBI with O'Shea also adding a run and an RBI.

 
Christine Leo led the Panthers in game one after going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Stahl finished up 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Veronica Slattery scored twice and drove in two runs.

 
Stahl also picked up the win in the circle for Purchase after working a complete game and striking out six. She allowed only three earned runs on four hits, while allowing five walks.

 
In game two Mount Saint Vincent was shutout and only managed two hits against Purchase starter Lindsay Froman. Amanda Oliva (New City, N.Y.) and Katherine Postel (Queens, N.Y.) picked up the only hits for the Dolphins in the second contest.

 
Purchase picked up all the run support it needed in the second when it plated two runs and then broke the game open with seven tallies in the bottom of the fourth. Alyse LaPadula picked up a two run double in the second and a two run single in the seven run fourth for the Panthers.

 
Froman fanned five in the complete game two hit effort while walking just one Mount Saint Vincent hitter. Winn took the game two loss for the Dolphins after allowing seven earned runs in 4.0 innings of work.

 
The two losses on Friday drop Mount Saint Vincent to 4-23 overall on the season and to 0-12 in league play. The Dolphins will close out the league schedule on Saturday morning when they play host to Farmingdale St. First pitch at Sarah Lawrence College is now scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
