, N.Y.The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team had its Skyline Conference losing streak extended to 10 games on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader loss to visiting Mount Saint Mary. The Knights picked up a 19-0 game one victory and then completed the sweep with an 11-2 triumph in game two. Senior outfielder Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) drove in two with a home run in game two for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Mary broke open game one early, pushing across 18 runs in the top of the first. The Knights totaled nine hits in the inning, but also took advantage of six Mount Saint Vincent errors to open the huge lead. Only one of the 18 runs was earned in the inning.

The Dolphins picked up two of their three hits in the second inning in game one with Gabriella Burgos (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Nora Chivelly (Suffern, N.Y.) each singling with two outs in the inning. The only other Mount Saint Vincent hit in the game was a Burgos single to left in the fourth.

 
Mount Saint Mary finished game one with 12 hits and only two starters did not record a hit in the contest. Sarah Johnson drove in four runs and went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Ashley Peel went 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI for the Knights.

 
Amanda Barrese picked up the win in the circle and firing 5.0 shutout innings. She allowed the three base hits and struck out six Dolphins. Kelly Donlon (Carmel, N.Y.) took the loss in game one. She allowed just one earned run but did not record an out in the game.

 
In game two, Mount Saint Mary opened a 5-0 lead highlighted by a four run third inning, before the Dolphins got on the board for the first time of the day. With two out in the bottom of the third, O'Shea connected on her fourth home run of the season to bring the Mount to within 5-2.

 
The Knights responded with four more runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to salt the game away and complete the sweep. With the sweep Mount Saint Mary improved to 14-9-1 overall on the season and to 7-3 in league play.

 
O'Shea and Donlon secured the only hits in game two for Mount Saint Vincent, with O'Shea driving in her 24th and 25th runs on the season. Ashley Winn (Queens, N.Y.) took the loss for the Dolphins in game two.

 
Five Mount Saint Mary players finished game two with a pair of hits, with Peel completing a strong day at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run. She scored a pair of runs and drove in four for the Knights. Caitlin Maynes picked up the win after working 5.0 innings and allowing just two hits. She did not walk a batter and fanned eight.

 
Following Sunday, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 4-21 overall on the season and to 0-10 in league play. The Dolphins will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Stevens. The non-conference set is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
