, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team extended its season-high win streak to seven matches on Sunday with a pair of 3-0 victories over NYU-POLY and Yeshiva. The Dolphins took the matches by set scores of 25-17, 26-24 and 25-20 over NYU-POLY and 25-20, 25-13 and 25-13 against Yeshiva.

 

In the first match of the day against NYU-POLY, Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a career-high 10 kills for the Dolphins and hit a blistering .714. He did not commit a single attack error in 14 attempts and also chipped in with four digs and a pair of total blocks.

 

Ecock was one of two Dolphins to post at least ten kills in the match after David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led all players with 12 winners to go along with a team-high 14 digs. Guerrero also contributed three block assists to the winning effort.

 

Senior Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 27 assists and also totaled a pair of kills and three total blocks. Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished the match with five kills for the Dolphins and eight digs.

 

Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent finished with 31 kills to 20 for the Blue Jays. NYU-POLY held in the edge in the match in digs 54-44 and total team blocks 10-8. Tom Poppenberg led all players with 22 digs for NYU-POLY.

 

Against Yeshiva, Ecock continued his strong play with six more kills and a .600 hitting percentage. He did not commit an attack error for the second straight match and for the day efficiently totaled 16 kills in 24 total attacks. Ecock rounded out a solid day with five digs and four total blocks against the Maccacbees.

 

Guerrero was the only player to record double-figure kills in the match as he paced the Dolphins with 11 winners. He also posted four aces and four digs for Mount Saint Vincent. Bacchi finished off nine winners against Yeshiva and hit .467 to go along with a match-high 10 digs.

 

Quinn was again the match leader in helpers with 28 and he also posted a kill, five digs and a pair of service aces. A.J. Cataldi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was also steady for the Dolphins with six kills in the contest.

 

Overall against Yeshiva, Mount Saint Vincent hit .362 as a unit and posted 35 kills to just 14 for the Maccabees. The Dolphins also lifted 31 digs to 16 for Yeshiva and totaled 5.5 blocks to just one for the visitors.

 

The sweep on Sunday pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 12-2 overall on the season and to 6-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Bard for a key league battle. The match with the Raptors is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
